” Great Company “

I worked at Insider Inc. full-time for less than a year

Unlimited PTO, Great Company Culture (They try to be as inclusive as possible for all) Diverse environment, Free food

Some teams are too small for the work that needs to be produced. Maybe divert payroll to the more important teams that are actually generating revenue as opposed to more sales executives.

” Nice people, good company structure, make sure your views align with theirs “

I worked at Insider Inc. full-time for more than a year

Nice people, good company structure, accommodating

My views did not align with their editorial standards and what they believed qualified as good journalistic integrity. If yours does, this would be a good place for you to work.

Advice to Management

Prioritize factual information and verified coverage over expediency.

” OK first job “

I worked at Insider Inc. full-time

Good experience, nice company culture, snacks

There’s no room for growth. They hire an army of interns without any intention of ever hiring them back, no matter how well they do.

Advice to Management

If interns meet their work expectations for six months they should be compensated for that.

” Not a great place for journalism “

I worked at Insider Inc. full-time for more than 3 years

Great office It is a job in media Talented colleagues generally land on their feet at bigger and better places, so you can too!

Mediocre pay and unfair HR practices Job insecurity Low editorial standards Insincere and dumb management

Advice to Management

If you’ve got a burning desire to work for a financial news website founded by a guy barred from anything securities related by the SEC, this is it! When Henry Blodget was charged by the SEC back in 2003, it was because his writing was “not based on principles of fair dealing and good faith and did not provide a sound basis for evaluating facts regarding companies.” Now 15 years later, BI business coverage is in.

” Not worth it “

I worked at Insider Inc. full-time for more than 3 years

The teams are relatively young which means it’s easy to find friends and these friendships often extend to life outside of work. Small teams also mean that opportunities are available for movement within the workplace and people are often responsible for more than they normally would be. Unlimited vacation and the opportunity to work from home are nice.

Managers have no idea how to manage so there is constant miscommunication. Sometimes you are forced into positions you weren’t hired for because of a sudden shift in how the teams are run and this is done without prior knowledge. Favorites are chosen and promoted with no question while other hard-workers are left in the dust. Velocity and traffic goals are the No. 1 source of pride at the company and the standards are.

Advice to Management

Learn how to hire and train managers. Actually communicate with your employees. Support your workers when they have valid concerns and complaints. Stop putting impossible velocity goals on everyone. Promote your employees.

Cool office, good parties, good coffee, a lot of very fun, talented people (who deserve better)

Management is ignorant, problematic, and all white, and then pretend they care about creating a diverse newsroom. These people pick favorites and make it very obvious to the entire company. Everyone in management will betray you when you come to them with an issue. Management values velocity over quality (although they deny it, or are so stupid that they think this is true). You will only have a positive experience at.

Advice to Management

Leave journalism, you are poison.

” Everything happening all the time always “

I worked at Insider Inc. full-time for more than a year

-A young, enthusiastic workforce means it can be easy to make friends in the office. -Ops does an excellent job of organizing inclusive, fun, and inspiring events during and after the workday. -Location in downtown Manhattan is spectacular. -Younger, less experienced reporters and producers can be given responsibilities and assignments they wouldn’t be allowed to touch at other companies. -Benefits rival those of.

-The organization and training of management does not take the employees into account. Managers are promoted after months without any training, leading to toxic power dynamics and lack of resources for employees. -They utilize the classic start-up tricks to trap you into coming in earlier, staying later, and not leaving for lunch: Ping pong table, beer and wine in the fridge, etc. -There is a LOT of pressure to work.

Advice to Management

-Train your managers. Hire and promote managers who know how to manage people and who have an interest in that role. -Set realistic, clearly-expressed goals and do not punish your employees for working on long-term projects. -Lean off the clickbait.
